The Future of Modric and BMJ’s Back!

Luka_Modric_738015a“Luka will not go to Manchester United and he will also stay at Tottenham because I know that president Daniel Levy will not let him go.”

Mario Mamic.

It’s the quote that debunked a thousand rumours. For this week anyway. I’ll wager it won’t be too long before some tabloid nurk hauls the corpse out of the ground again, slaps a dress and a bit of lippy on it and tries to pass it off as breaking news. For now, though, nothing to see here. Modric is staying. I trust a polite woo-hoo wouldn’t be too unbecoming? Good. With that one tucked nicely into bed, we’ll move on.

We’ve only gone and signed Brad Friedel. Part of Villa’s great summer purge- which so far counts John Carew, Pires and the Boy Reo-Coker among its evacuees- we are assured that the sagely Ohioan comes equipped with a safe pair of hands. A calming presence betwixt the sticks should Gomes’ descent into madness become terminal or, indeed, if Carlo falls ill of another hog-related whoopsie. A good move, says I.

Elsewhere, the ever-popular Martin Jol will be in your homes again next season. Not literally, of course, unless things go really badly for him at Craven Cottage. While he may’ve been in short supply of tactical astuteness (tactics are for pansies, anyway) and that killer instinct in big games, he more than made up for it with his amiable charm and trademark bear-hug. Two back-to-back fifth place finishes are not to be sniffed at, either. I just like the way he said ‘Dimitar’ and the fact that he could definitely have Wenger. Fulham will love him.

And, so, back to the Transfer Window.

Anyone know any good jokes?
