Ignoring all better judgment to own up and admit that qualifying was just one big practical joke gone terribly, terribly wrong, England start their Euro 2012 adventure in Polkraine next month. God bless the bloody Queen: they’re actually going through with it.
Still, it’s not all bad news. Possibly still intoxicated with sun-stroke, I’ve managed to cobble together a Euro 2012 Sweepstake; one, no doubt, which’ll be the talk of hairdresser’s waiting rooms and supermarket cues the world over.
The scheme’s genius (you heard, genius) is in its simplicity. The first 32 readers to Tweet #FOXYEUROSWEEPSTAKE to @wfrfthetruth will be thrown into a hat/tombola/lovely potato salad and assigned one of the competing nations later in the day. Two readers for one of the 16 nations. So far, so solid crew.
If your adopted Eurotrash wins the trophy, you, my friend, will be one of life’s winners. Like some kind of astronaut movie star or something.
