West Brom at home, then. Never a straight-forward undertaking at the best of times and after the heroic Rodgering of Brendan’s Liverpool last Saturday, you’d guess the Baggies won’t just be in foggy London town for an afternoon of sight-seeing this time around.

In Romelu Lukaku West Brom have a young man the rough dimensions of Mount Rushmore. Deceptively quick for a man of his size, the striker also has that incalculable, tabloid favourite charge of ‘having a point to prove’. Whether one should buy in to such tommyrot. Indeed it was Villas-Boas whom first uprooted the Belgian from his homeland, only to put faith in him the square-root of naff all before the terrible inconvenience of getting himself sacked. He did look murderously eager against Liverpuddle, to show that all the fuss and smoking hot cash thrown over him was indeed worth it. Let’s hope our own Jan Vertonghen has seen it all before.

For Tottenham it’s a case of ‘more of the same, please, chaps’ but with more attention devoted to the useful business of actually winning. A match-fit Adebayor should help there. Unless any of Steve Clarke’s minions have the presence of mind to bring a step-ladder, as demonstrated by our glorious leader on Tuesday, the erstwhile Citizen will be a formidable presence at the front end of the party bus. And with in-house creators Lennon, Bale, VdV and Sigurdsson onboard, I predict goals from the big man. Two of them, if you want specifics.

COYS!
