Stuff Happened…Then More Stuff Happened It’s The New Kit

youre-f-ckin-out

It’s often in languorous times such as these that I wish the summer window was more like an episode of Supermarket Sweep. In the vain of those tubby funsters who’re allotted a minute or so to net all the industrial-sized tubs of mayonnaise they can get their paws on, it would be interesting to see managers bestowed a similar licence to bomb around the Continents, nabbing any flavour of the month which caught their eye. You want Fabiano? Well, if you can get your hands on him… he’s yours. In the same instance, how much easier would our lives be if, like those contestants flinging mistakenly snatched bags of lettuce out of the trolley, all our unwanted goods could be simply dropped out at sea and left to the whim of ol’ Mother Nature? As a plan, it’s water-tight. You heard me…

Assuming we could operate in this way, then, who exactly is floating the collective boat this window, and, equally, whose very presence in the squad is dragging it toward the twinkling abyss? A striker seems a no-brainer and ‘Arry has done little to mask his admiration for many of the names proposed. He likes Forlan. He likes Fabiano. He likes autumn-day walks and someone with a GSOH. But how about your good selves?

Who would you like to see trot through the gates at White Hart Lane in the coming weeks, and who would you prefer to see wash up on the beaches at Calais?

The floor, as ever, is yours…

Huntelaar, out of favour at AC Milan, a very capable striker who needs a little of our ‘Arry’s love, a paternal arm around his shoulder and some fatherly advice, namely “get out there and bang some goals, son….triffic, fantastic..” etc

And being out of favour he cost us a few Euros less, bargain.

can we have van persie please and we will give you jj.

  4. special k special k says:

    It’s gotta be : –

    Micah Richards – realistic
    Joe Cole – probable
    Craig Bellamy – very likely
and one of Luis Fabiano – doubtful, Luis Suarez – possibility, Diego Forlan, potential or Klaas Jan Huntelaar – potential

  5. BrizzleSpur BrizzleSpur says:

Itd be nice to see players already in the prem, we never get to buy elite prem players and maybe that should change.
Torres, Cole, Gerrard aaaaaaaaand Insua :-)
Liverpool are broke and spurs got some cash and needs new players so why not?

  6. LDNYid LDNYid says:

My answer is what I feel is possibleas well as what I feel would be mosrt beneficial….

So, ins: J Cole, Hunterlaar, Suarez and a versatile defender (most prominently one who can play at sentre back adequately)

Outs: Jenas (gotta be time to unload this joker), Keano (sad but true), and Hutton.

  7. Ted Ted says:

Me want Joe Cole and Craig Bellamy.

That is it. Nobody else. Just those two. They are a terrific pair so a brace will do. This dynamic duo will lead our assault on the title. They will be double trouble for opposition defenders in a twin pronged attack. Triffic.

    • Ted Ted says:

BTW although I hope we get things sorted in advance I would not be surprised at all if 90% of our business is done at the last minute on the final day of the window after the CL qualifier result is known.
Plus although I hope we invest in key areas I would not be surprised if the net spend is close to zero as it has been in the last two windows as the club has tightend its belt.

    In: Forlan and Cole
    Out: Hutton, Keane

  9. pbro pbro says:

JJ Out? I’m not so sure.
I remember 2 years ago in the Berbatov summer, Dawson was being linked with Newcastle and on these forums, many of us said we wanted Dawson on our “Out” list. Look how we feel about him now. Jenas is in a very similar situation. He doesn’t want to leave, and is in a situation to prove himself once and for all. I’m sure he’s itching to play after last season.

    • onedavemackay onedavemackay says:

Dawson always looked like a performer to me but Jenas has been given enough opportunities to disprove his enigma label it’s time to let him go. Besides, Arry quite obviously prefers Thudd and with Sandro, Modders and Wilson in front of him I imagine JJ is desperate to move on.

  10. Siggs Siggs says:

A world class centre half as Woody and King can’t be relied on, Micah Richards, Joe Cole with one from KJH, Forlan Suarez or Fabiano. Instaed we’ll end up with Craig Bellend. Triffic.

  11. KayBee KayBee says:

All I care about is that we get a striker in who can convert the ridiculous amount of wasted chances we have.

    Also, Bellamy…. *shudder* don’t want.

    • onedavemackay onedavemackay says:

      You are spot on.

Had we enjoyed the services of any one of Suarez, Huntelaar, Forlan, Fabiano or Milito last season we would have finished above the Arse.

      • onedavemackay onedavemackay says:

And Bellamy is not the tosser you think he is. He wears his heart on his sleeve and wins games on his own.

If he comes I believe you will come to love him.

  12. goody goody says:

In – Richards, Joe Cole, Suarez, Klaas Jan Huntelaar

Out – JJ, Hutton, Keane, Pav, Bently,

    Simples

  13. Greavsy18 Greavsy18 says:

    OUT: Keane, JJ, Hutton, Crouch.
INN: (dream, blank Cheque:-) Dario SRNA , Lassana DIARRA, Arda TURAN and Luis FABIANO….

And Harry has admitted that we need to be able to work in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 in Europa, I like the 4-2-3-1 so here’s my suggestion:

    ………………………..Gomes……………………….
    SRNA……..King……………..Dawson………Bale
    ………………………………………………………….
    ……………..DIARRA………Sandro………………
    ………………………………………………………….
    Lennon………………Modric……………..TURAN
    …………………………………………………………
    …………………….FABIANO……………………..

SUBS: Cudicini, Corluca, Bassong, Ekotto, Palacios, Giovanni, Kranjcar, Defoe.
(i know there’s one to many subs, but could figure out witch we needed less:-)

Loan out: Huddelstone to a premiere league team that would garanty him first team football for a year, then bring him back..

  14. fatbloke fatbloke says:

Richards, Joe Cole, Suarez, Klaas Jan Huntelaar all in

    crouch/keane Hutton jj bently

    job done

  15. TH TH says:

Loan out HUDD? ARE YOU MAD? Sandro has never played in the premiership but starts ahead of our proven playmaker

  16. SeattleSpursGuy SeattleSpursGuy says:

In: Greaves , Mackay, Blanchflower, Ricky and Ossie, Hoddle, Waddle and Lineker

  17. Trembly Trembly says:

Diego Milito. Perfect target man to keep cr’Ouch on the bench and can work well in a mourinho-esque 4-5-1/ 4-2-3-1.

Unfortunately that particular boat has sailed, although now that Josey has gone Spain side and he’s accomplished all he can in Italy, make a cheeky bid why not?

  18. JimmyG2 JimmyG2 says:

    In………….right leg
    out………..left leg
    shake, dont stir.
    That’s what its all about.
This is one of Harry’s party pieces and will be performed instead of the group hug
    just before kick-off.

  19. Ginge1 Ginge1 says:

In: Messi, Ronaldo, Robben, Oezil (or whatever he’s called) Swine-steigher ;) and at least one CB – either of the Brazilians they looked quite good, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa and Forlan

    Out: PSB, Bentley, JJ, Hutton,

Mr. Fox, I feel you should be made aware that when typing ‘who fram..’ into Google, in their predictive selections it would appear you are above the one and only Jesus Christ.

Whilst there is no shame in being defeated by a certain pesky animated rabbit you can take solice that, according to the gospel of Google, you are in fact more important than the Lord Our Saviour. :-)

Onto the topic in hand… with the current batch of more ‘continental’ players we are being linked to I would only consider Forlan to be one to get excited about.Saying that though I wouldn’t expect the ‘WC’s best player’ to be too keen on us. Out of the others, Fabiano is too expensive (wages esp.), Suarez is too risky for my taste (Alves, Samaras, Kezman…) whilst Huntelaar’s reputation seems to have grown by sitting on the bench for bigger teams since leaving Holland.

I wouldn’t be too unhappy if we shipped out Keane and replaced with Bellamy but I cannot for the life of me see who this marquee striker we crave could possibly be. We’re just going to have to trust Levy and ‘Arry on this one. It’s just a shame that the all-round, strong, lethal, dominant targetman who ain’t too pricey and fits within our wagebill doesn’t seem to be around at the moment

          Much obliged sir :-)

Jimbo conmmented on my dedication to travelling to watch a pre-season friendly but in reality it became an excuse to go for a bit of a jolly by the beach. Lovely stuff indeed.

Just glad our American tour is on TV otherwise I’d be fucked if it was seen as starting setting a precedent!

  21. Kenny Fuckin’ Powers… That’s who!!!

  22. Griff Griff says:

As mush as I would like to see Spurs get that really big name striker in I just thunk we will be priced out of the market especially with the blue half of the middle east buying everyone they can. I mean how many players can they get in midfield?
Back on track …..I can honestly see this being a very quiet transfer session for Spurs. Maybe a couple of outgoings Jenas, Hutton, Woodgate but I really can’t see alot of new faces coming in.
I think January will be our time when we are extablished in the group stages of the Champs league. At the moment as much as I love our Spurs we are only in the qualifiers and no-one will take a risk on us yet.

I would like us to land Joe Cole though. He may not be as quick as he used to be but is still the kind of player who can make that one opertunity out of nothing to turn a game. Quality through and through. The thought of him and Modric in the same side excites me.

  23. smurffee smurffee says:

A few interesting names being floated here and it’s interesting to see the balance between realism and fantasy football, although to be fair to everyone who has added to this thread there was no limitation on the ambition of the club in pursing signings however unlikely.

Lots of paper talk going on at the moment linking us with all and sundry, some are appealing, some that leave a bad taste in the mouth and several that just leave me scratching my bonce wondering where on earth the link has come from

So we have the on going saga of Joe Cole and his agent whoring him to the highest bidder, personally like Arry I think he’s a ‘triffick’ player, but is he worth destroying the club wage structure for and all the disharmony this will bring to the dressing room? I’m not sure he’s worht 40% more than any other player at the club and for that reason I’m out .
Next, Man City out of favour pair, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards. On paper both are potentially fantastic signings if the deal can be done at the right price. Richards, like Kaboul and Charlie can operate at centre half and right back and would mitigate the risk that Woody is never coming back. I think he’d be bought in as a right back and would allow us to sell Hutton on.
With regard to Bellamy, I’d prefer us not to get involved with this player as he will bring baggage with him that will affect the dressing room. Having said that you can’t argue with what he does on the pitch. So it’s down to Arry, who is lucky in so much that he is a strong ‘no nonsense’ man in complete control of the dressing room.

Fabiano is pure paper talk, we may as well try to buy Fabregas from that mob in decline from just down the road

So, the England shirt arrived in the post…

I’ll start the bidding at a packet of Fruit Pastels and half-melted Curly Wurly.

    • Aran Aran says:

I bid a box of maltesers, whatever change I happen to have in my pocket and a lightly soiled sense of personal superiority.

    • Trembly Trembly says:

What england shirt? the new red one/ white one with SeffEfriker on it/ signed one? I thought they were all on sale for a tenner now? I still like my one and wear it with rather less pride than I did before the world cup, whenever I’m out for a run or kicking a ball around.

      • Who framed ruel fox? Who framed ruel fox? says:

An away one- signed by the WC squad. Sent by the people at The Sun for my amazing powers of foresight. It’s up for grabs…

  25. Trembly Trembly says:

WFRF: Recommendation to you sir, well more of a request really. Can you get da Man to set up a search function. I cannae find how to get an avatar on here and I’m sure there was something mentioned before. As ever, Ta.

Will do, mate. I’ll get my man to put the linkage back up. You should be able to get one from gravatar though.

The new Tottenham Hotspur shirt is styled in a plain white colourway, featuring a classic 80’s design throughout the fabric with mesh panelling down the sides and a navy and gold trim at the collar, cuffs and sleeves.

An embroidered team kit badge is also included on the left chest of this Tottenham shirt, along with the team kit sponsor logo across the front and Puma Cat symbols on the right chest and sleeves.

  27. birdie birdie says:

(style – think Cameroon, ivory Coast)

    away shirt pale blue.

  28. Longwell Longwell says:

Suarez is a slower but more cultured JD; no thanks. Bellamy is not what we’re looking for. Fabiano ain’t walking through that door. He and Huntelaar both think they’re too good for us. They’re probably right.

Forlan is the guy we should be after, I think. Smart player in the Eidur mold and dynamic in a way that we could really use up front now that Keane is rubbish. Cole would be my second choice along those lines, but Forlan is streets ahead of him at the moment. That gap could close if Cole can rediscover a bit more of his pre-injury form, though. Certainly wouldn’t object to having lil’ Joe in the fold if his wage demands don’t rock the boat.

We don’t need much in midfield with Kranjcar back fit, Sandro on the way, and Gio maybe being given a second chance. If City are determined to run Stephen Ireland out of town, I’d have a crack there I guess. Pass on his fellow City reject at the back, though; I’d rather try to convert Jenas to an attacking RB than rehabilitate Richards. We could use another LB. I just don’t trust A&E and probably never will, even if he plays like Roberto Carlos for the whole season. Always fancied Taye Taiwo, even though he’s still a little raw.

We seem to be in reasonably good shape overall, really. Whoever we sign, all I ask is that it’s part of a plan, system, or philosophy of some coherence. Let’s decide, broadly, how we want to approach the various competitions this season tactically and then bring in a few new faces to help accomplish that, if they’re needed. Don’t just sign players we like simply because we like them. I have to say, Harry has shown a pretty good aptitude for identifying the needs of the squad and then setting out to address those needs. I’m optimistic and quietly excited about what he’ll come up with over the next month or two.

  29. Griff Griff says:

Fabiano suddenly becomes aware of Spurs’ ambition. Nothing at all to do with Man Utd and AC milan dropping thier interest in him though ?

We want players that want to be here, not players who want to be here for our money.
