Greetings from flavour country. Planet earth has its collective eye hanging over South Africa and the only thing keeping me up at night is the thought of finding a decent highlights reel from our lots’ jolly on the South Coast yesterday. Balls to Sneijder and Villa- someone’s pierced the hermetic seal on Robbie Keane and we’re back open for business.
Four-nil. Pavlyuchenko with two. Rose with another. Letterbox-rouge tans all round. Bully. I went to a couple of these friendly affairs last year. While they give no clear pointers as to what we might be up to in the following months, they do serve as timely reminders who we’ve still got knocking about the place. Townsend, Obika, Livermore. All phantoms of the pre-season. Enough hullabaloo on a cloudless away day in Exeter- not so much as whiff once the campaign fires up for real. There’s a hope that this season we might get more acquainted. Ridiculous debut strikes against Arsenal are usually good ice-breakers.
The apparel is finally here, too. Well, at least it is in the mind’s eye of anyone privy to the black arts of Photoshop. Autonomy is the name. And it’ll be plastered on some retro-styled finery in a town near you. Have a look. Go on.
Right, I’m off to paint my face a nice tango orange and celebrate the last parp from a vuvuzela that I’ll be hearing until Daniel Levy starts selling them from the back of an unmarked white van on Tottenham Court Road.

Van Bommel, dirtiest player at the WC?
Want the Dutch my fecking God, their kicking ten barrels out of the Spanish! De Jong, another he seems to love to stick those studs up someones crack…
Please add ‘but’ between ‘Dutch’ and ‘my’….
Why do some people feel the need to correct others spelling? Do you have nothing better to do in you’re obviously dull and boring life? It’s the Internet, its not an essay competition
I agree with you, mate. But I think Pigmy was correcting himself rather than anyone else. Which is just fine by me. And shouldn’t it be ‘your’ instead of ‘you’re’?
LOOOOOL
Classic stuff! More exciting than last night’s sorry excuse of a World Cup final.
Commiserations to the Dutch, well done Spain!
Right now let’s get on with proper transfer business! One top notch striker please Mr Levy, absolutely not convinced by Bellamy and with disruptive spells at a few clubs I’d rather not run the risk of letting him infect our buoyant team enthusiam.
On another note, great to seeing flourishing yoof tallent deployed against Bournemouth, hopefully with Spurs facing a campaign on four fronts we will see more of the likes of Danny Rose et al.
Desperate for news… will we finish higher than the scum this year? I want Joe Cole but do we need him? I just don’t want him going down the road… Harry Redknapp seems to get attacked for spending too much money, yet arrives at a big club and it’s our quietest summer in years if not ever… seems he likes and believes in our squad and he really is just gonna wait for that special someone(s)…In Harry I trust… p off Pompey, Soton and Wham fans… when Harry is at a club that is run properly (eg Chairman deals with money and manager manages the football) seems Harry doesn’t spend that much at all… Sandro looks good anyone else seen the links of him playing flying round the net… he looks the dogs nuts?
WC really was pants wasn’t it… best game was the 3rd/4th place playoff… Ball was crap… Final was crap and England was crap.
I need news… must beat the scum this year… I want to relive the buzz of Rose’s goal again… THAT win against Man City… I need something I need news… heeeellllp.
Should Spurs buy the two Uruguay strikers? But what about Defoe… I like him, maybe we should buy one? Wasn’t Forlan crap before…? Maybe we should buy the other one… Maybe we should hold tight and believe… I still believe, I still believe…
Need news… I need the Premier League back, I’m excited I’m sure Arse are going backwards or is that just summer loving/wishful thinking… would play football manager but my bird will dump me as I’m on a yellow after draining her soul with the WC….
hurry up football season.
WC was def pants.
Lets have it right, that cnut of a Ref Howard cnut Webb put on an aweful display and all the press are jumping on him saying it was a hard game to ref! No it wasn’t, if he would have sent a player of for each side in the first half, like he should have for some of those challenges those players would soon have got the message and it would have been a better match. He was a cnut all game, as it ended, he should have sent at least 2 players off from each side, plus a coupla decisions in not giving second yellows or straight reds which were clearly deserved. Then a clear corner which ended up resulting in the goal in the next passage of play, pretty much resulted in a poor game being even poorer for the referring display.
What a disgrace and this is supposed to be the best ref to officiate this final, anyone that would have consulted any Spurs fans would have told u how much of a cnut Howard the cnut Webb is, but that cnut and his old fart of an old man get their minute’s of fame. They just couldn’t help themselves could they, first the English Players, West Ham in particular fcuk up the World Cup for us, then they get Howard the cnut Webb to officiate the worst game, with probably the worse fouls i’ve ever seen and the cnut decides he’s not going to send ppl off except right near the end, for next to nothing!
Considering DeJong did a flying Tekkan 3 style kick on Alonso, Puyol practically sexually asaults Robben and let’s not talk about Iniesta and the other Van Kik alot!
Now we have to hear how it was an impossible match to ref!!
WHAT A DISGRACE the British Media is! It’s a farce! Anyway Come on u spurs!!!!!
Have to disagree. If he sent players off in 1st half, it would have decended into a farce. Once players booked, they had to calm down – or they are off. That is what a yellow card is for – and De Jong and Van Bommel were stifled as a result. The second half was calmer due to Webb’s good handling of the situation. Yes – that should have been a foul to Holland shortly before they conceded, but no one can complain the right team won, and it was a great goal to win it. I thought webb did what refs should do and that is maintain a fair chance for the game to flow. All those incidents were in the first half. I can understand other Spurs fans being bitter towards Webb, but in the end it did not matter – WE GOT 4TH!!!!
So, it looks like Joe Cole and Craig Bellamy at the moment.
What do you make of those two?
Both useful and I wouldn’t turn either away if they want to joint up, but they’re not what is needed most. One-up-top striker please!

With the WC over, I face the digusting prospect of having to talk to family and friends again. Thank Jeebus the league starts up soon!
Indeed.
What’s the feeling over there about the US’s World Cup exploits?
I think the England squad are all getting knighted…
People cared this time around. The last minute heroics from Donovan and Bradley really made an impact. When I was a yoof in 94, you could find numerous souls who had no idea the blessed World Cup was going on in our country! Now, you couldn’t get a seat in the pub. Small steps, but someday we’ll be as overhyped and disappointing as England
I see our “new” shirt is also the new shirt for the creepily named Swiss team “Young Boys”. *insert distasteful Arsene Wenger gag here*

Amusingly, Young Boys play at the Wankdorf Stadium *insert another distasteful gag here*.
West-siiiiiiiiiide!
Bellamy under no circumsatnces. He’s a disruptive and negative influence wherever he goes and not what our young and recently, well bonded squad needs.
Evidence the succesful and varied squads at Bournemouth recently.
Such as Dos Santos needs sensible, supportive colleagues not Bellamy chasing him round the training pitch with a golf club and challenging him to road races after hours up the High Rd.
You gather from this that I don’t think we should sign him.
Cole is a different matter if Harry can resolve the possible disruption of the wage structure being broken. We don’t actually need him but you can’t have too many good players as someone once said. It’s the bad players that are a luxury. (Blanchflower)
It may sound a bit negative but I honestly think our transfer business will pick up or fall flat on it’s face after the Champs league draw on the 6th August. If we pull an “easier” team the prospect of proper Champs league action could be a draw to better players. If on the flip side we get a total stinker and do an Everton it’s bye bye to any hope of attracting players.
At the moment saying we are pulling players in as we are in the Champions League is misleading.
I’ll have my say on Bellamy anyway though. I think we should line up the whole club membership on the gate of the car park with the biggest barge poles we can find and poke him until he buggers off. The bloke is a total ar*ehole who could start a fight in solitary confinement.
