It’s Okay, No-one Else Knows What They’re Doing Either Wetter Than an Otter’s Pocket

The snow’s gone, of that we can be certain. Rumours that it was helped on its way by the monsoon of tears which permeated out of the Kop End last week- after another potential trophy slipped out of focus- have yet to be confirmed. All we know for sure is that it is unquestionably game on.

The mood around many quarters is that although the initial cancellation was a nuisance, (ruining most folk’s weekend to the point of spending it in the shed with the lights off, gawping at the snow while pointlessly whittling bits of wood) the re-arranged meet has the look of a fairly winnable game about it. Much will be made of the Gerrard and Torres injuries; pundits will crow until the small hours about how different a team they are without them. For my money, it’s not even their stark absense which causes such panic in the ranks, but the quality of cavalry which are drafted in to replace them. N’gog, I’m sorry, is a clown shoe. His aficionados will site the fact the he is still only twenty; one which I’m happy to agree with were it not for it being totally irrelevant. Rooney was sixteen when he made his debut. Lennon’s still only twenty-two. N’gog, at twenty, will be lucky if he develops into anything more than a two-bit carpet fitter. No offence.

The Anfield crowd will no doubt  play a major part, and, if we’re lucky, it may work to our advantage. If things go to plan, it could be the moment when Kop-enders finally vent their frustration en masse. A chorus of boos might just work wonders if it saturates on to the pitch and through their world-weary players. It’s not exactly in the spirit of things, lord knows you get enough grumbles at the Lane, but anything that helps us towards three points is okay in my dubious book. Liverpool fans reading this might like a chance to practice.

 Altogether now…

Moving on. How’re we shaping up? Well, we’re not without our own problems. Lennon’s return continues to be handled with caution; something we can all probably agree is wise judgment on ‘Arry’s part. Elsehwere, Woodgate’s enduring groin damage has asked for a second series. It’s turned from occasional episode into long-running drama. How will it end? Well, you’ll just have to wait for the box-set. Other than that, it’s the same lot which has kept six consecutive clean sheets and presently resides in fourth place.

So not all bad, then.

 1-0  Spurs.

Keane, for his sake, to get the winner.

 Bring the noise.

I’d take a Keane winner, in possibly his last game for the club if Mr. Levy is really willing to pay RVN £100k a week.
The Hull game proved once and for all that we need a bit of new blood and someone with guile up front who can give us something different(What Keano used to do before his headstagger and move to his “boyhood” club.
We need to start well though, the scousers weren’t that bad on Saturday at Stoke, better than they have looked recently anyway, and if they get the crowd behind them the pressure will be on.
If they beat us I believe our push for fourth will be over, they will improve sooner or later and at the tight end of the season their experience under pressure will see them through.

  2. I’m assuming Azza won’t play and PSB only gets a cameo, so a nervy 1-2 win with JD and Pete doing the business. If Lil Lennon plays I think this would actually be a fairly simply win. I watched that Pool-Stoke match and it was beyond dire. Rafa actually had 7 defenders in. Granted they may open up more being at home, but that plays to our strengths.

I honestly believe that the biggest thing the Scousers have going for them is the name “Liverpool”. Just playing them used to intimidate us, but hopefully 3 wins in our last 4 games against them has knocked the awe out of the lads.

You do realise that N’gog will probably score now, or have the game of his life, don’t you?

I really can’t call this game. Before it was postponed, I really fancied us for the result, and couldn’t see anythign other than a Spurs win.

Now I find myself worrying that we’ve lost a little momentum, and hope that we can up the ante at Anfield. I’d also be a lot happier with Lennon starting, but heyho!

    Soddit, 0-3 Spurs. ;)

Yes. I’m well aware that singling him out will result in the inevitable backlash. This time, though, I’m willing to take a chance. I don’t trhink he has it in him to prove me wrong.

      God help me :)

  4. This will be a tough match. Again I stress that the early goal will be desperately needed… otherwise I see this ending in a nil-nil draw (got to keep that clean sheet) or in a loss (sadly). Tired of being optimistic lol

I predict Howard Webb to give Pool a dodgy penalty, or deny us a stonewall penalty

  6. From the Mail:

Jamie O’Hara has been included in the Tottenham squad for Wednesday night’s Barclays Premier League clash at Liverpool.

O’Hara has returned from a loan spell at Portsmouth and is likely to start on the bench.

Spurs are without Tom Huddlestone (knee) while Ledley King will have a late fitness test on his long running knee problem.

Team (from): Gomes, Dawson, Bale, Corluka, Bassong, Kranjcar, Palacios, Jenas, Modric, Keane, Crouch, Defoe, Alnwick, Bentley, Pavlyuchenko, Rose, Naughton, O’Hara, King.

So, no Azza or Thudd. Jenas in the middle then, I guess. I’m less concerned, strangely, since it’s Pool; JJ seems to up his game a bit when it’s the “bigger” teams.

Like the new look of WFRF.

If we lose to this Liverpoo side up there without Gerrard and Torres, then you have to start questioning Redknapp’s management. Before people get all excited, yes, I know where we were last season and he’s done a great job since. However, we have to end this winless 65 game run away to the ‘big 4′ if we’re to ever challenge them. I believe, and certain results prove, that we’re not consistent enough to pick up enough points against the ‘lesser’ teams. We’re always going to drop points we shouldn’t; it’s about time we balance this out by picking up points where we’re not expected to.

This game worries me for three reasons Liverpool’s desperation for one we don’t do well wen Mr desperation is around like the Hull game and Benitez is making this game Custers last stand ,and probable his and living not far from the b+d they will be Energized. And they will chase the ball like there lives depended on it this was proved at Stoke and the late late by chance by Kuyt was not a surprise to me the Physio lives by me and he will have them flying trust me on that.Secondly the team Liverpool will have playing will be more attacking Reina maxi Rodregas Aguillani Babbell the three Spanish armada will have to be sunk .Thirdly Liverpool like UTD cant afford to lose this one and the FA and the Premiership no this and Mr Webb has bean installed just in case they need Help appointed by there no1 fan The departing Mr Barwick.Lesthope we Wallop them. COYS.

  9. andyto65 andyto65 says:

A draw away to this lot will not be good enough, this is a winnable game, this has to a win that keeps us in contention and ensure Liverweonlyliketoplaywhenitshinespool has no chance of gaining CL spot.

The reason we WILL win this game is that unlike Hull, Wolves and Stoke teams that have frustrated us (that in itself is a complement to how good a team we are this season) they will not sit back and defend, they are at home and have to attack.

The real good news is, we are better than this lot and that makes me feel all warm inside.

    COYS.

  10. Longwell Longwell says:

1-2 away win. Get the ball into the box. Hit it where they ain’t. Simples.

  11. JimmyG2 JimmyG2 says:

We could win this. We can win this. We should win this. We might win this.We will win this.
Who we playing? Oh! Make that a draw then.
Initially I predicted a low scoring draw. Now I’m as up for it as Humpty Dumpty on the wall. Before he had a great fall that is.
    So that’s 2-1 to Spurs
If Davspurs would like to get in touch I have a job lot of full stops that I got cheap on e-bay. He’s very welcome to them.

  12. I’m revising my prediction a bit; I said 1-2 for us but that was contingent on Crouch/JD pairing up. If it’s Keane/JD I’m thinking 0-0.

The lesson as always: Don’t Start Keane.

  13. Ah….too late to revise my prediction again? I’m stuck at work; was that as poor as it sounded?

    Jesus that was attrocious.
