Leicester City completed the most remarkable Premier League title success last season as they pipped the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea to the crown. At the beginning of the campaign, the Foxes were 5,000/1 to finish at the top of the table but they defied the odds throughout the season to secure the most unlikely of victories. It still feels like a dream now if truth be told…

Ultimately, it will take a minor miracle for Leicester to win the crown again this season. The Foxes must now learn to adapt to competing in four competitions and Claudio Ranieri will need to invest heavily if Leicester are to actually challenge for silverware. With N’Golo Kante out the door and Riyad Mahrez potentially set to leave the King Power Stadium, it is vital that the Foxes sign competent replacements.

And to be fair, Ranieri has already acted quickly in the transfer window to try and cope with the added demands of an extra competition. Nampalys Mendy is more or less a carbon copy of Kante and the Frenchman will try to provide some assurance at the heart of the midfield. Meanwhile, the Foxes paid a club record fee for CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa in order to give Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki some much-needed support in attack.

Leicester aren’t on the verge of a crisis by any means – but they should be focusing on finishing in the top six before dreaming of anything more. The worst thing in the world would be if Foxes supporters got ahead of themselves and Ranieri has tried his best to keep the fans, his players and his coaching staff grounded after their incredible performance last season. Yes, they’ve enjoyed their success but they know a repeat is very unlikely.

At the time of writing, Betway are offering 33/1 in their odds on Leicester winning again this season – and it would certainly be a romantic fairytale to say the least. Realistically, the Foxes probably don’t have enough to win back-to-back crowns. It is always harder to defend the title and Leicester should focus on enjoying their Champions League run and strutting their stuff against the best teams in Europe.

Last season, football fans continually ruled Leicester out of the title race. In fact, some didn’t even take Claudio Ranieri’s men seriously until April. Most didn’t think Leicester could win it, but they did… so why can’t they do it again?
