What To Expect From Tottenham In 2016/17?

Last season was a hectic one in the Premiership and one of the finest for Tottenham Hotspur in the last decade. After quite a few near misses, it was Mauricio Pochettino who finally led the Spurs to a direct place in the group stage of the Champions League as the club had a very good chance to win the title altogether, being outmatched by Leicester City and Arsenal in the last few weeks of the season.

Despite not winning the league, Tottenham have certainly had a season to remember and one they will hope to at least replicate this year as they continue their quest for Premiership title going into the 2016/17 season.

Stiffer Competition

Last season was certainly a flop for most of the England’s biggest teams as the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United had to fight desperately for European spots, while both Liverpool and Chelsea will be completion only in the domestic competitions this season.

The likes of Leicester City and Tottenham grabbed this opportunity to get themselves invited to the Europe’s biggest football stage, but this season will likely be much different. The big teams have reinforced their ranks immensely with the likes of Pogba an Ibrahimovic reinforcing this seasons likely favorites, Manchester United.

Tottenham have done a little reinforcing themselves, as they brought in Moussa Sissoko for £30 Million from  Newcastle United in a clear effort to remain relevant in the upcoming season. So far Tottenham remain undefeated after three Premiership matches, with two draws and a win, while both City and United have won the full 9 points thus far, announcing a big season to come.

The Big Five Is Back?

With so many expensive and skillful reinforcements coming to the top five English clubs, it is less than likely that teams like Tottenham or Leicester could replicate the last season’s success. However, it is hard to expect that all the top five teams will have a great season, despite who they brought in and with some effort, the Spurs could possibly repeat their success from last season.

Can the rejuvenated Tottenham really do it and reach the very top again this season, or will they once again be left to fight it out for sixth place? It remains to be seen, but it is quite clear that the extremely straining Champions League matches that await both them and the reigning champions will have a big impact on the team’s performance.

Can They Do It?

The question of whether or not Tottenham can make it into the top of the league table this season is a hard one to answer given all the factors at play, and the bookies are currently offering 6/4 on Spurs to make it into the top 4 and 20/1 to win it all.
