Spurs Make an Important Signing

hugo“I spoke with the chairman and I know the club is as ambitious as ever. It’s very important to feel at home at a club and for my family to feel well. I enjoy a great relationship with the club and the fans.”

It’s not altogether clear how the chairman persuaded Spurs’ best player to sign a bumper five-year contract extension; my guess would’ve been the old Pressing A Knee Into the Small of His Back and Screaming I’VE GOT YOUR KIDS, HUGO! technique which has worked so effectively in the past. Say what you want about our club’s heartless negotiator, the man can often yield some surprising results.

What a signing this is. The World Cup has done nothing to challenge the opinion that Hugo Lloris is one of the best in the business and it would’ve been no great shock if a European heavyweight had come steaming in with a wheelbarrow full of loot once the Frenchman’s tournament was over.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Dortmund, PSG are just a few of the teams who would see Lloris as a significant upgrade on their current goal-pluggers, (Barcelona have already shown their cards by signing Marc-André ter Stegen) so for Spurs to tie him down, for this season at least, represents a extraordinary coup for Levy and the club.

“Last season wasn’t the season we all hoped for but we were still able to finish sixth in the league. We know where we have to improve, the ciblub also knows and there is a feeling and a confident connection between the club and the players”

“The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is important as well. I have a good feeling with him. He is also ambitious”

Viva la Hugo!
