Morning. Let’s plunge straight into the good stuff and hear what the Confederation Cup’s third best player had to say about his imminent move from Corinthians to White Hart Lane. I can’t bloody wait, was about the size of it, in a teary farewell press conference just hours after picking up his medal. Any suspicions that Real Madrid might get their big, government-funded paws into the honey pot appear to have been just tabloid hokum as Paulinho admitted that Inter were the only other club to make official contact.

So, barring the slim prospect that this whole transfer story has been the figment of a young Brazilian’s imagination (no word from Spurs yet), it looks very much like we’re about to break our transfer record and sign an absolute monster of a player. Sandro, Paulinho, Dembélé.

Many a newspaper’s back page bore the name of Hotspur yesterday as reports immerged that we had all but agreed a deal with Dinamo Zagreb for Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilović, both seventeen and both devilishly well thought of. Without wishing to Bostock the poor lad by hyping him up to be the next Luka Modrić, midfielder Halilović has already played for his country and is almost certainly going to be ten times better than Luka Modrić. There, how’s that for tempering expectation?
