Become Part of Football History- Plus Talk of Tevez, KPB and Blackburn

kurtzman_pigtales_001Did anyone else notice that Kevin Prince-Boateng scored a hat-trick for Milan at the weekend? Hmm. That was an odd sentence. Equally puzzling were Harry Redknapp’s claims that he’d definitely take Carlos Tevez on loan in January, if such an opportunity were to arise. I bet you would, sunbeam. The kicker for his current employers- and I’m sure they’ll love this- is that they’d once again be required to foot a substantial amount of the Argentinean’s running costs. Which is a gargantuan number of readies to put it mildly. Cough. I was thinking around, ooh, 70%? How does that sound? Roberto? Hello? Oh. The line’s gone dead.

Suffice as to say, if you can stomach the little nurk, I’m sure we’d all like to see Tevez rock up at The Lane at the year’s turn; much in the same way I’d like those Nigerian princes who keep offering to split their dying father’s inheritance with me to be on the level. But the likelihood of that actually happening is not a cat’s chance in hell at best.

Away from all that, Spurs won again yesterday. Thanks in no small part to the brace of gorgeously taken goals from the Heemskerk Howitzer; who’s now scored the opener in each of the last four league games. Say what you want about Van der Vaart being a luxury or a brain-numbing tactical hand-grenade: the man gets results. A legitimate match-winner whose name on the team sheet must be awfully close to being foremost.

Not a huge shock that we looked somewhat fishy at the back in patches. Given that three of our finest centre-backs (depending on your viewpoint) were out and Blackburn had in their ranks the annually troublesome Christopher Samba. Who seems to cause us no end of problems; no matter how robust or well set-up we look from the off. In all honesty, I’m just glad we got out of there in one piece. We’re on the right track, baby.

And now, to the main event…

As promised, a chance for two lucky WFRF readers to become part of football history. No, no- you won’t need your boots. You won’t even need to get up. EA Sports have been in touch and to coincide with the launch of FIFA12 they’ve decided they’d quite like to make the world’s longest football scarf. You know how it goes. Winter draws close; you feel a draft on your neck. Oh to hell with it: let’s make a piece of knitwear that you could wrap around France. I’m sure we’ve all been there.

Anyway, the idea is that they need something to write on it. And that’s where you lot come in. Read the official blurb then join me at the bottom and discover how two of you lot can secure a guaranteed spot on the uber-garment.

You’ll also become part of football history by helping set a new Guinness World Record.

With each alert, you’ll be invited to the campaign site to write your message. If you’re a Twitter pro, you can also tweet your message of support straight from your phone. You’ll need to include #FIFA12SCARF, and hashtag your club name and the colour you want your piece of scarf to be. There are a bunch of other tips and tactics that you can check out on the site to help you boost your chances of getting on the scarf. Of course, you’ll have to keep it clean, as the moderators will have their eyes on all messages. But you’ll also need to keep it lean, with an 88-character limit for every message. We reckon it might also pay to have your message worked out before each round kicks off, so you don’t waste time thinking.
