Scott To The International Rescue?

ScottControls-300England on the box tonight, then, eh? Wembley. The lads. Battle of Britain. Rooney. Ramsey. Erm, did I mention the lads? Yes, well maybe nothing to get too enlivened about but there’ll at least be a couple of familiar phizogs under the lights this evening.

I put it to you that deadline-day recruit, Scott Parker, put in a tidy shift in Sofia. Ignoring the fact that the Bulgarians could’ve parked a static caravan on the centre-spot and put England’s midfield under more pressure, the ex-Hammer looked composed, elegant and distinctly international-class. Whatever the hell that means. It’ll be interesting to see him against a more competitive central pairing in that of the Arsenal boy and Joe Ledley. And when I say interesting

A small part of me would quite like to see Gareth Bale tear England a new waste exit tonight. Sadly Fabio appears to have replaced perennial goofball, Glen Johnson, with someone who’s able to juggle the roles of galloping-fullback and so-called ‘defender’ rather well. Chris Smalling’s already dealt with Bale this season and with some success. But the less said about that game the better.

Right, there you go. A preview for an England game. Now let’s not hear another word about them until they’ve bloody won something.

Wolves on Saturday. Now there’s something worth talking about.
